One Point of Contact From One Home to the Next

Planning, scheduling and supervision for a household move in the Edmonton area — so the family is not coordinating five separate companies between them.

A move between homes involves more parties than most people expect: the moving company, the building or residence, the cleaners, sometimes a donation pickup, sometimes a disposal bin, and everyone’s calendar. Move coordination puts one person in charge of the sequence so each of those pieces arrives in the right order.

What coordination includes

  • A written move plan and schedule
  • Planning what goes where in the new home
  • Packing sequence and labelling
  • Obtaining quotes from independent moving companies and helping you compare them
  • Booking elevators, loading access and building requirements
  • Being on site on moving day to direct the work
  • Unpacking and setting up the essentials in the new home
  • Coordinating cleaning and clearing of the home being left

Who does what

This is the important distinction. Alberta Estate Transitions coordinates the move. Independent moving companies physically transport belongings, and they normally contract with and are paid directly by the client. We are not a moving company and do not carry your belongings — we plan the move, help you select providers, and make sure the plan is followed on the day.

Before and after the truck

Most of the work happens either side of moving day. Sorting and deciding what moves comes first — see senior downsizing — and clearing what remains comes after, which is often part of an estate clear-out.

Next Step

Plan a move.

Tell us where you are moving from and to, and when. We'll set out what the coordination would involve.
